One more athlete
Everyone deserves a chance at a happy and purposeful life. For many people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics is the only place where they find an opportunity to participate in their communities, develop belief in themselves, and feel like champions.
For every inspiring Special Olympics athlete in Minnesota there are 20 more people waiting for their chance—and so many more around the world. Donate today and help us reach out to one more athlete.

Support Special Olympics Minnesota by donating to a Polar Plunger! These brave souls are so dedicated to SOMN athletes that they jump into freezing water in the middle of winter.
Even better: Register yourself to Plunge! Grab some friends, sign up as a team, and join us at one of 22 locations across Minnesota (or choose to take a Virtual Plunge). It’ll be the most fun you’ve ever had in a cold lake.
The quickest way to double your gift! If your company participates in a matching gift program, simply include the company form with your donation to maximize the impact of your contribution. If your company does not currently have a matching gift program, encourage your Human Resources Director to consider adding this offering for the next year!
In the spirit of teamwork, challenge a friend or your office to match your gift or sponsor an athlete as a group! Please see the information below if your office participates in an annual giving campaign through the United Way or has a matching gift program.
If a cash donation is not currently of interest, please consider the tax benefits of a stock transfer to Special Olympics Minnesota. Your tax or legal advisor can provide you with the specifics and financial implications of this giving option, or please feel free to contact Michele Bardwell at [email protected] or 763.270.7181 for additional, basic information on a transfer of stock.
Donate a car
When you donate your vehicle through our car donation process, 75-80% of the gross selling price goes back to Special Olympics, the highest of any vehicle donation program!

Birthday, wedding or memorial gifts
Flowers fade, but our programs literally change lives. By enclosing the name and address of the honoree or family with your gift, Special Olympics Minnesota will send a personalized note notifying them of your donation. Special requests may be directed to Michele Bardwell at [email protected] or 763.270.7181.
Membership in the Olympus Society
One crucial element of Special Olympics Minnesota is officially recognizing the dedication of our high-end contributors. The Olympus Society is a growing group of individuals who share a desire to ensure our mission and vision today and long into the future. Contributions enable us to continually expand the sports training, leadership skill development programs and health screenings that are so vital to Minnesotans with intellectual disabilities. For additional information on membership please contact Michele Bardwell at [email protected] or 763.270.7181.
United Way write-in
While Special Olympics is not a designated United Way agency, you may still elect to have your workplace giving dollars directed to Special Olympics Minnesota by writing our name in the “other” charity line on your donation form and including our address for them to direct the donation.
