Areas 1-6 Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is quickly becoming a favorite for outdoor winter activity. Combining aerobic activity with ease of walking over snow without sinking in, snowshoeing is an activity for all ages. Snowshoe races are part of winter sports at Special Olympics Minnesota.
The range of events is intended to offer competition opportunities for athletes of all abilities. Programs may determine the events offered and, if required, guidelines for the management of those events. Coaches are responsible for providing training and event selection appropriate to each competitor’s skill and interest.
The following is a list of official events available in the inaugural year for Special Olympics Minnesota:
- 25 Meter Race
- 50 Meter Race
- 100 Meter Race
Potential future additional events may include:
- 200 Meter Race
- 400 Meter Race
- 800 Meter Race
- 4 x 100 Meter Relay Race
- Unified 4 X 100 Relay Race
- More athlete assists added
