May 21, 2024 — Special Olympics Healthy Athletes offers free health screenings and education to Special Olympics athletes in a welcoming, fun environment. As a part of the screening process, athletes receive personalized recommendations, educational resources and help finding providers in their communities. These screenings are completely FREE and no insurance is required. When athletes are healthy, they can compete at their best!
All Special Olympics Minnesota athletes are encouraged to take advantage of Healthy Athletes screenings at Summer Games. This year, there are two opportunities to attend Healthy Athletes at Summer Games!
On Saturday, June 15 there will be Health Promotion screenings and an athlete warm up/cool down tent for all participants at Century Middle School in Lakeville from 9 AM-3 PM. Athletes that go through both activities will receive a Special Olympics Minnesota bucket hat or basketball, as well as a free cooling towel (while supplies last).
The following weekend on Saturday, June 22, the following screenings will be available from 9 AM-3 PM:
- FUNFitness
- Healthy Hearing
- Opening Eyes
- Special Smiles
Athletes will also have the opportunity to earn incentive items in Stillwater. Summer Games Healthy Athletes screenings will conclude with Healthy Hearing only on Sunday, June 23 from 9 AM-12 PM.
