The Running Aces Hotel will host its annual event to honor the trucking community’s contributions to Special Olympics Minnesota.
Columbus, MN – October 3, 2024 – On Saturday, October 5, the 20th annual Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Minnesota will hit the road at Running Aces Hotel. This annual event unites the trucking industry with Special Olympics athletes, families and supporters to raise funds and awareness for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The Truck Convoy will kick off with registration from 7 AM to 9 AM, followed by opening ceremonies at 9 AM. At 10 AM, the convoy of 100 trucks will hit the road, making a 25-mile round-trip journey up Interstate 35 to Stacy before returning to Running Aces.
“Over the past 20 years, the Truck Convoy has become a beloved tradition for Special Olympics Minnesota and the trucking community alike,” said Kathy Karkula, manager of the event for Special Olympics Minnesota. “We’re excited to celebrate this milestone and the incredible support we receive from drivers across the country who dedicate their time and resources to our athletes.”
This year, the event aims to raise $20,000 to support Special Olympics Minnesota’s mission of providing year-round sports training and competition opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Proceeds will directly benefit thousands of athletes across the state, giving them opportunities to compete, develop skills and be part of an inclusive community. In the past 20 years, the event has raised more than $320,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota.
In addition to Saturday’s main event, early registration will be available on Friday, October 4, from 4 PM to 9 PM, featuring live music by The Fabulous Del Counts from 7 PM to 9 PM.
