Law Enforcement Torch Run Events

Early each year, brave Plungers jump into frozen lakes across Minnesota to raise funds for SOMN. You can sign up to take the Plunge, volunteer at the event in various roles or even join a committee to help plan the events. With over 20 locations across the state, there’s always a Plunge near you!

Don’t miss the fun as teams of up to 8 people compete to pull a Delta jet a distance of 25 feet across the tarmac in the fastest time. Gather your coworkers to compete against other Public Safety teams from across the state and prove you’re the strongest agency in Minnesota!

Every year, Law Enforcement agencies carry the Flame of Hope a combined 925 miles through communities across Minnesota, culminating at the Special Olympics Minnesota Summer Games. If there isn’t a final leg route near you, your agency can plan a fun run in your community to support SOMN.

The Truck Convoy is a two-day celebration that helps raise money for Special Olympics. Truck drivers from all over come together to help raise awareness and convoy along a route. Law Enforcement personnel are needed to help us block off roadways along the route.

Officers serve as celebrity waiters at restaurants and donate all the tips they receive to Special Olympics Minnesota. Tip-A-Cop fundraisers are a fun and easy way for officers to raise money and interact with their community while supporting local businesses.

Law Enforcement officers hang out on top of the roofs of local businesses, grocery stores and restaurants to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Minnesota. Customers and passersby are encouraged to make a donation, often in exchange for a coupon to the local business.

Golf tournaments are a fun way to raise funds for SOMN! Law enforcement agencies and other partners can host 9- or 18-hole competitions at a local course.

Special Olympics Minnesota creates an LETR T-shirt and hat each year that you can sell to your agency and community members to raise money and awareness for SOMN.

Work with the SOMN LETR staff to create an event that works best for your agency. Ideas include fishing derby, softball tournament or fitness competition. Get creative!
