We’re closing in on the first ever ALPs University for Special Olympics Minnesota!

We can’t express how excited we are to be offering four different courses as this event. To help prepare for the big weekend, we’ve provided specific weekend details for you below. Please read through the entire page for the most accurate information for the weekend.

Registration

Registration is from 5:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. in the lobby of Lissner Hall. Feel free to bring your luggage with you during registration.

Lodging

ALPs participants will be housed in a dormitory setting. Each room will consist of a shared living space, three two-person private sleeping rooms, and a shared bathroom space. You will need to provide your own bedding: sheets for a twin XL bed, pillow case, additional blankets and/or sleeping bag. You will also need to bring towels and toiletries, including soap, shampoo and other necessities. There is one shared bathroom per room; the rooms will be gender specific with the exception of family rooms.

Only registered ALPs University conference participants are allowed to stay in the cabins. No outside guests are allowed.

Parking

You may park your cars in the Lissner Hall parking lot. Carpooling is suggested.
On-campus signs will direct you to the hall. Maps will be provided upon checking in.

Meals

Friday evening: We will be providing dinner on Friday evening from 5:45-6:15 p.m. Please arrive on time if you’d like to eat dinner. General Session 1 will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner
Sunday: Breakfast

Meals at Bethel University are served cafeteria style. Please plan to be done with meals by the ending time so we can start the workshop sessions on time.

Dress

Please make sure to watch the forecast and dress appropriately. We’ll be mostly inside for our activities, but there are times when we’ll walk from one building to another.

What to pack

  • Pillow
  • Sleeping bag and/or twin bed sheets
  • Towel
  • Pajamas
  • Tennis shoes
  • Comfortable clothes & underwear
  • Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant)
  • Medication
  • Misc. (playing cards, radio, etc.)

What NOT to pack

Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and/or weapons are prohibited and you will be asked to leave if any of these are found.

Security

Bethel University provides 24/7 security personal on campus and can be reached any time at 651-638-6400. Keys and card access will be given to you upon checking in. Neither Special Olympics Minnesota nor Bethel University are responsible for lost or stolen items.

Departure

Rooms must be vacated by noon on Sunday, June 11.

Health information

We’ll bring copies of your medical forms that are on file at the office. We also recommend that you bring your own copy.

Lost key or key card

You will be charged up to $60 if you do not turn in a key or key card during checkout.
