Opening Eyes Screening Event

What is Opening Eyes?

Opening Eyes provides people with an intellectual disability with a free vision screening. Individuals who require glasses or sport goggles receive them on-site, free of charge.

The objectives of the Healthy Athletes Opening Eyes program includes; in addition to providing screenings to Special Olympics athletes; educating athletes, parents and coaches about the importance of regular eye care; educating and changing attitudes of eye care professionals about the vision care needs of persons with intellectual disabilities; and increasing knowledge of visual and eye health needs of persons with intellectual disabilities through research.

Delegations will be provided with free parking and their travel costs reimbursed for attending this event.
